Our Plan for Lynchburg
Lynchburg is at a pivotal moment, and our city deserves steady, trustworthy leadership that focuses on results. The people of Lynchburg are not asking for drama or distractions. They want leaders who listen, show up, and get the job done.
Mayor Larry Taylor, Councilwoman Stephanie Reed, and Chris Boswell are running to provide that kind of leadership. They are committed to common-sense, conservative solutions that put taxpayers, families, and neighborhoods first.
With experience serving our community and a proven commitment to getting results, they will focus on what matters most. Here's how:
Lower the Tax Burden For Everyone & Respect Taxpayers
When the economy grows, your tax burden should go down.
For too long, the conversation has focused narrowly on the real estate tax rate while ignoring the full burden families actually pay. Lynchburg residents are feeling it everywhere: car taxes, meals taxes, fees, permits – the list goes on and on.
At the same time, every dollar the city spends comes from someone who worked hard to earn it. That means government should live within its means, just like you do.
Our goal should be to lower your tax burden for everyone, not just apartment developers or a single group of people.
Our Priorities:
-
Lower the overall tax burden – not just the real estate rate
-
Cut the car tax and put Lynchburg on a path to eliminate it
-
Fight for relief on property taxes, the meals tax, and local fees
-
Increase transparency when assessments rise
-
Pass on-time, responsible budgets
-
Fund the basics first: public safety, schools, infrastructure
Our Commitment: A strong economy should mean relief for families and a government that spends responsibly, lives within its means, and respects every taxpayer dollar.
Meet The Team
Stand Up for Law & Order and First Responders
Safe streets are the foundation of a strong city. Lynchburg has made strong progress, now we cannot take public safety for granted. We will always stand with law enforcement and first responders, and we will support policies that keep our communities safe.
Our Priorities:
-
Fully cooperate with federal law enforcement efforts
-
Empower first responders to do their job
-
Fully support our police officers and first responders
-
Invest in recruitment, retention, and training
-
Expand partnerships that prevent crime
Our Commitment: Every family deserves to feel safe in their neighborhood.
Fix our Schools. Demand Results.
Lynchburg has invested more than ever in our schools, now it’s time to demand results from school leadership. We need schools that are safe, disciplined, and deliver for students and parents.
Our Priorities:
-
Hold the School Board accountable
-
Continue investing in the classroom
-
Fix our schools
-
Establish a clear, predictable school funding formula so families, teachers, and taxpayers know where the money is going and can plan accordingly
Our Commitment: Blank checks and empty platitudes are not good enough. It’s time to match words with votes and deliver for students and parents.
Back to the Basics
Instead of chaos and constant distractions, Lynchburg residents want quiet success on the “simple things” done right.
Before City Hall tries to do more, we need to do the basics better. We’ve heard it clearly from families across our city: fix what people deal with every day — no excuses. That means safer streets, smoother roads, and neighborhoods we can be proud of.
Our Priorities:
-
Fill potholes, water breaks, and roads.
-
Pass responsible budgets on-time. Fund what works, cut what doesn’t.
-
Fix bad traffic design before approving more developments.
-
Keep the street lights on.
-
Cut out the roundabouts and focus on normal intersections & sidewalks.
-
Defend neighborhood character, demand clean and well-maintained streets.
-
Hold government accountable
Our Commitment: Government’s first job is to deliver the basics. We will focus on results — not excuses, not distractions, and not more government.
Grow the Economy
Lynchburg should be a place where small businesses thrive, families can afford to live, and opportunity is growing. All of this can be done without expanding government.
Economic growth should benefit the whole community, not just a select few.
Our Priorities:
-
Cut red tape for small businesses
-
Speed up permits and inspections
-
Support homes within reach for working families
-
Revitalize vacant properties and commercial corridors
-
Expand local jobs and workforce development
-
Encourage responsible, balanced growth
Our Commitment: A strong local economy starts with small businesses and working families, not tax hikes.
Defend Lynchburg Values
Decisions impacting Lynchburg should be made in Lynchburg, not dictated by Richmond. We will use every tool available to stop Richmond from raising costs, weakening public safety, or destroying Lynchburg values.
Our Priorities:
-
Defend local decision-making from Richmond overreach
-
Fight back on costly state mandates
-
Continue defending your constitutional rights and the right to life
-
Protect Hill City character
Our Commitment: Lynchburg should be governed by Lynchburg values, not Richmond politics and Fairfax activists.
